Be it for camp or a youth retreat, Sarah has found a way to make it to Clearwater Forest for the past 10 years and this year she is finally joining us as a member of our 2019 summer staff. Growing up in Maplewood, MN, just outside of St. Paul, made it easy enough for her to make the journey all those years. While this Minnesota girl does have a twin brother named Sean, and still sleeps with a nightlight – for practical reasons of course… too many horror movies! – she actually visited Italy last year with her mom, so she has in fact been outside of the United States.
Read on to find out more on what we learned about Sarah…
What’s your favorite thing about Clearwater?
My favorite thing about Clearwater the atmosphere at camp. At camp, there is always a fun and open atmosphere that made me fall in love with it.
What do you do when you’re not at camp?
When I am not at camp I play a lot of video games with my dad, binge-watch Netflix, play with my two cats and I like to stress bake.
Can you share a favorite memory from Clearwater as a camper?
My favorite memory from Clearwater is the time when I was 8 and accidentally made a counselor rip his pants. I loved doing cartwheels as a kid and tried to teach him how to do one while playing ultimate frisbee. He did do one correctly, just ripped his pants in the process. It was super hilarious.
If you could live anywhere, where would that be?
If I could live anywhere it would be Norway. It seems like a beautiful country and has an interesting history.
What is your favorite book and why?
My favorite book is actually a series of books called the Warriors series. They are about a fictional group of cats that live out in the woods. Cats are my favorite animal and it was the series that started to get me into reading more in 6th grade.
