Leaning into Shalom
Shalom is more than the absence of war or conflict – it’s the biblical understanding of wholeness. Shalom is about living lives that are wholehearted and healthy in body, mind and spirit. As we lean into shalom in our own lives, we can become peace in the world. Large group sessions will include Bible study, storytelling, information on mindfulness, sabbath, meditation, and laughter.
We will come together as a community of shalom!
Keynote Speaker: Rev. Mary Koon
Mary was born in Con- necticut, and came to Minnesota in 2011 by way of New York, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Illinois. A 2011 graduate of Chicago Theological Seminary, Mary came to ministry by way of early childhood education, motherhood and serving as an Adult Faith Formation/Small Group coordinator at two churches. Mary serves as Associate Pastor at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, where her minis- try involves children, worship leadership, Deacons, caregiver support, and adult faith formation. (Really, a little bit of everything!) She enjoys every aspect of her work and puts an emphasis on congre- gational care and nurture. Mary is married to Jim, and they have four grown children, two daughters- in-law, two grandchildren and a dog. For fun, Mary enjoys reading, jogging and walking, yoga, and stitching.
