Choose Your Own Adventure Camp
Girl Power! – June 23-29, 2019
What do worms, hammers, art, laughter, campfires, Zentangles, cooking, yoga, games and more have in common? Girl Power! And a wonderful week for middle school girls is the answer!
The Rev. Mary Koon of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, MN, is leading another Girls Empowerment Week at Clearwater Forest. She is creating an opportunity to play, experiment, talk, and embrace who they are as children of God with a variety of creative women of faith joining them each day for their adventures.
“I envision a week where girls are together experimenting, talking, sharing and learning. The whole idea comes from my concept of growing self-esteem in girls—knowing themselves as children of God, feeling free to try new things without fear of failure, learning from strong, passionate women and reaching out to others,” Mary says.
Grit and Grace: Heroic Women of the Bible will ground the Quest time for this group. Each day, the girls will experience/experiment with a different skill or activity, taught by someone who is passionate about the topic. We want to give the young women coming to camp a safe place to learn new skills and talk about the tough stuff. Activities may include mountain biking, painting, fishing, and light woodworking.
